  1. When shit hits the fan….as in “When shit hits the fan, we have to be prepared.” Also featured on a Mythbusters episode. Have fun! Love the site.

  2. I’ve heard a new one from a US colleague: horseshoes and hand grenades
    i.e. close enough without going into the details

  3. A hot ball of wax… A semi fluid difficult and unpleasant situation to handle. Not all the variables are known and those that are, are potentially volatile. See also “Shit Show”.

  4. All hat and no cattle: A lot of talk, with very little action. Pretentious. I used this as part of the storytelling in a Ram Truck direct mail piece a few years back to describe the competition. Was happy the clients left it in:)
